A sort of spoof of the 'Alien'. He's a ditto slug. An adult lays an egg inside a host's stomach -while unconcious- which has a slime surrounded it that protects the baby from stomach acid. The baby feeds off the food that enters. The host dies of dehydration or starvation and the ditto slug comes out of the throat hole. It actually steals genes from the host in order take form of an appearance and other attributes. Usually the host is planned to be on a planet which is plentiful of the same species. So the form is used to go around unaware until it reaches a huge size that demands larger quantities of food and is able to feed off the inhabitants. They eat so much in order to vomit plenty of slime to move around and prevent drying up.
Usually ones that are discovered these days are destroyed by a salty chemical or placed on a abandoned planet full of ditto slugs (cannibals?). So they were no longer a problem to more advanced species.
There are a few manuevers to rid of a baby ditto slug thats in a host, one of which is like the Heimlich manuever or drowning with salt water.
Some can be quiet intelligent however depending on the host. But the hunger that drives them can be stronger.
Puny arms are not there all the time but they can latch and stick onto things like suction cups of doom!
